The Bolero Association is managed by our users on behalf of our users, and represents the worldwide Bolero community as a whole. Bolero International is fully committed to working closely with the Bolero Association for their mutual benefit.

The Bolero Association is a key part of Bolero’s distinctive proposition, and a valuable forum for users to share their Bolero service experiences. This enables us to collectively envisage and enable the growing drive towards the creation of paperless, electronic trade.

The Bolero Association incorporates the banks, exporters, importers, logistics organisations, agencies and customs who use the Bolero Trusted Trade Platform across the world.

The Bolero Association

The Bolero Association was formed in 1995 by a group of interested cross industry companies to look into the creation of a common electronic commerce platform for world trade. This platform became the Bolero Trusted Trade Platform. The Association's objectives are:
  • To ensure that the Bolero service meets its members business needs and that other trade related services are developed to be consistent with these services
  • To act as the focal point for the 'Bolero community' for issues related to electronic business practice in international trade
  • To encourage and promote international standards for electronic commerce
  • To ensure a secure legal framework within which the traditional logistics documentation requirements can be handled electronically without changing the balance of risk between the parties
  • To liaise with national and international administrations to ensure that their business needs are fully considered in the development of the new legal and technical infrastructure for the trade
Refer to the Bolero Association site for further information on Association membership.

In addition to the above, the Bolero Association also serves as:

  • A powerful User Group acting on behalf of Bolero users
  • The Registration authority for the Bolero Rule Book
  • And as the body that acts on behalf of, and in conjunction with, Bolero users to encourage international standards for electronic commerce within Government bodies, Customs & Excise, Trade Associations and Regulatory Authorities around the world.
